Mt. Huangshan Trekking and Ancient Village Hongcun

Day 1: Tour Hongcun, climb up to Yellow Mountain

Take a night train to Yellow Mountain, arrive the next morning, get picked up by a bus, then drive to a 500 years old ancient village called Hongcun. The original residential style and features of the Ming and Qing Dynasties were preserved perfectly. Reputed as "A Living Ancient Residential Museum" by experts and tourists at home and abroad, they were listed as a world cultural heritage site by UNESCO in 2000. The village became famous also because the Oscar award-winning film Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon was shot here.
We will wander around on the street, check out this cattle-like village, lots of hundred years old architectures. Local people are most hospitable and they probably will invite us into their houses. Taste some local cuisine during lunch, then tour around two of the Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon sites, Yue Zhao Lake, and a bamboo forest, where a fighting scene was shot.

Then transfer to the Yellow Mountain, one of the most famous China scenery spots. We will climb up from the front side of the mountain, take a cable car to the middle to skip the unnecessary and boring climbing. Then climb to the peak Celestial Peak, which is the most precipitous peak of the mountain, accompanied by awesome view. Get down by Jiyubei and arrive at Greeting Pine ( Yingkesong ). Then climb up to Bright Summit Peak. From the top of the peak, you can have a panoramic view of Huangshan. Then get down to the Xihai Scenic Area, where our lodging is. Sleep soundly on the top of the most beautiful mountain of China during the night.

Day 2: Hiking in Yellow Mountain

Next morning, get up early to catch the sunrise, take some great pictures, then we will start our trekking for the day. A recently discovered place called Xihai Da Gorge has the stunning scenery and is normally neglected by the tourists. We will do approximately 5 hours walking in the beautiful valley, which by the end, you will find your legs are not yours any more, but the view is definitely worth it. This is the best hike in Yellow Mountain.

Then take a cable car to get down the mountain, drive back to Tunxi, entertain yourself with a big meal, do a bit souvenir shopping before you leave. Take a flight back to Shanghai
