This three days great wall trekking tour will lead you to the wildness section of Great wall, trekking on the un-spoiled quiet old wall, which literally have the best Great wall scenery, and do not have tourists, postcard hawkers, enjoy the farm stay in the local village, have fun with the hospitable villager family.

Day 1: Xiangshui Lake Great Wall- Jiankou Great Wall

We will first drive to the beautiful countryside north of Beijing, where the winding Great Wall is. We will start from a section of the Great Wall which is little known of. The next step is to go where the first watchtower stands. Here a big S shape stretch of the Great Wall on the steep hill slope will give us a good photo shot opportunity. Then we'll start our Great Wall trek on this part built during the Ming dynasty period, unlike the commercialized Badaling section which was renovated for tourists. Some 10,000 visitors go on a daily basis to Badaling, making it one of the most popular tourist attractions in the world. The part we take you too has kept its original state; people who want to get away from the crowds and see the wild and remote sections of the Great Wall will immediately fall in love with it. Continuing our ascending, we will pass a couple of watchtowers, always surrounded by isolated, beautiful scenery. The next step is to stop for a picnic, then descend a bit before we take another big climb, up to our highest tower today; The Beijing Knot. This is the meeting point of two different converging sections of the Great Wall and allows us to see the Wall shaped like a bended bow. You will be able to enjoy the great view offered by the unique shape of the Wall here, have a picture with, as local hikers have baptized it, the "Lonely Pine" (a pine tree that is right in the middle of the wall). After that we'll then take a small side path, head down to the valley, arriving at a small village. Welcomed by a hospitable local family, we can enjoy a tasty family cooked meal and sleep soundly nonetheless but just beneath the original Great Wall!
Driving time to the starting point: 2.5 hours
Hiking distance: 7.4 KM
Hiking time + lunch break: 5 hours

Day 2: Jiankou Great wall-Jiuyanlou Great Wall

Take a path up to Beijing Knot, where the two sections of Great Wall meet. One section is called the Inner Great wall, which goes to Badaling, another section is called the Outer Great wall, leading to Datong. We will trek on the right wing of the Beijing Knot. Within 2 hours of walking on this part of the ancient Wall, you will see the old steles, old barracks, battle fields, and by the end, get to a unique shaped watchtower called Jiuyanlou. This historically key watchtower is double layered, squared shaped, uniquely having 9 watching holes.
Later that evening we will stay overnight in another local farm below the Great Wall. The traditional Chinese rural bed, locally called "Kang", will give allow you have a well deserved sleep.
Hiking distance: 6.5 km
Hiking + lunch break: 4 hours

Day 3: Jiankou Great Wall- Mutianyu Great Wall

Wake up to the sound of birds singing and the smell of porridge. After an all-round breakfast, we'll take a small path up to the Great Wall again, this time starting from a watchtower called Zhenbei tower, literally meaning defending the north. The view here is called "The Eagle Flies Facing Upward". This observation tower appears extremely high as it was set up on a mountain which forms the highest section of the Great Wall. Therefore, when an eagle flies there, it can only do so facing upwards before reaching the top of the tower.
Many of our customers who take this hike towards the Mutianyu section of the Great Wall often comment on how amazed they feel by the impressive view. On this third day we will hike on the wall for about 4 hours, with quite a bit of descending involved. Later on we will get to a very famous restored section of Great wall, called Mutianyu Great Wall, where we will see tourists and be able to take the cable car, looking back along the miles of wall we have covered since the day before, hopefully with a great feeling of pride!
