Hike from Jiankou Great wall to Mutianyu Great wall

The Jiankou section of the Great Wall is situated in Huairou County, about 73 kilometres north from Beijing City. It links Mutianyu section of the Great Wall ten kilometres to the east. This section section was built in 1368 during the period of the Ming Dynasty. Jian kou Great wall is named after its shape (like a bended bow), famous among local hikers for its unique beauty. There is a saying that if you have not stepped on the Jiankou Great wall, It means that you havent hiked on the great wall.

A bus brings us to a village below the wall where the hike starts. Take a narrow path up, get to the watching tower called Zhenbei tower.Standing on top, you will have a great view of the whole Jiankou Great wall, experiencing different scenes in all directions regardless of the hour or the seasons or the weather.

There are several scenic sites you will see, one of which is the enemy observation tower known as, The Eagle Flies Facing Upward". This observation tower appears extremely high as it was set up on a mountain which forms the highest section of the Jiankou Great Wall. Therefore, when an eagle flies there, it can only do so facing upwards before reaching the top of the tower. The Beijing Knot (the meeting point for three different converging sections of the Great Wall).

We will keep hiking on some of the most magnificent sections of wall which are virtually deserted, only you and the nature, the hike itself would be quiet and beautiful, in about 4 hours passing deserted sections of the wall in its original state. We will get to a section of restored Great wall known as Mutianyu later, get out the entrance, and drive back to the city of Beijing.
