Itinerary
Embark on the 21:30 pm express train from Beijing to Lhasa, we will take the luxury sleeping- beds, air-conditioned, with toilet, restaurants. Plenty of fresh air and space available!
Days 1-2
In about 47 hours, you will cross Xian and run through the Qinghai-Tibet plateau, on the world highest railway, climbing from 2,829m above sea level to 3,641m at Lhasa. At 20:58 pm we will arrive in Lhasa. Our tour guide will pick you up from the train station and transfer you to the hotel. Note that Lhasa is 3650 meters above sea level, and it may take some time to get used to the thinner air in such a high altitude area.
Day 3
After breakfast, we will visit the Potala Palace, one of the most famous architectural works of Tibet, which proudly stands on the top of the Red Hill in Lhasa. It was first built in the 7th century. In the mid-17th century it was rebuilt by the 5th Dalai Lama to its present size, and since then it became the Winter Palace of the Dalai Lamas.
Experience the tranquility of the Jokhang Temple, a 1300 year old monastery, where you can see Tibetan worshippers display passionate commitment and dedication to their beliefs. Devotees pour yak butter into butter lamps that light the narrow altars. You can walk the circumference of the temple, a pilgrimage path that worshippers take to honor their deities. The rest of the late afternoon can be spent at the colorful local Tibetan markets, full of different spices, local instruments and clothing, Barkhor Street, where you will be rewarded with amazing sights of men and women dressed in very different clothes, is a must-seer. Spend some time to view the many thangkha and antique stores in the fascinating old city.
Day 4:
We will visit Norbulingka on the third day, a beautiful garden built very near a medical spring outside Lhasa. The construction of Norbulingka started in 1751 and its present appearance is that attained from when it was last renovated in 1956. These gardens were the host to the Dalai Lamas from March to September each year, as they moved their residence from the Potala Palace to Norbulingka. This practice started with the first Dalai Lama till the seventh.
Later you can wander around in a local Tibetan village, Sangmu village and see the countryside, getting to know a bit of the local lifestyle before staying overnight at Lhasa.
Day 5
We will take a scenic drive to Xigatse along the beautiful Yarlung Tsangpo River. Then we will stop on the way to visit the third largest holy lake in Tibet -- Yamdrotso Lake, later tour around Gyantse old town and finally stay overnight at Gyantse.
Day 6
This day kicks off with a visit to Baichoi monastery, and Dzong (old fort) where you can get a view over the valley. Later weˇŻll drive from Gyantse to Shiagatse, stop on the way to visit Dashilhunpo Monastery and stay overnight at Shiagatse.
Day 7
Tour around Shiagatse, and do some shopping for the base camp, drive to the base camp and stay overnight at a guesthouse near the base camp, where the view of the night sky is absolutely breathtaking.
Day 8
Visit Base camp, followed by Rongpu monastery, Dingria nd Shiagatse, staying overnight at Shiagatse
Day 9
We will drive back to Lhasa, transfer to the airport, and take a flight back to Beijing.

The price includes the followings:
- The soft sleeper train tickets from Beijing to Lhasa.
- Accommodation with breakfast, on a twin base, 3*hotels in Lhasa, Shigatse and 2*hotels in Dingri.
- All the entrance fees of the programs as above in Tibet.
- Transportations (Toyota 4500, 4*4) with private car and private local guide.
- Travel permit to Tibet.
The following is not included in the price:
- All lunches and dinner in Tibet and the meals on the train from Beijing to Lhasa.
