West Beijing caravan trail is an ancient road leading to Heibei, Shanxi, and Inner Mongolia provinces, it served as a highway for the diligent Shanxi merchants to transport the coal, firewood and livestock to Beijing, also exchange of religious, cultural and artistic ideas.
A bus will take us to a beautiful mountain in the west of Beijing, start from a very nice village, start climbing up on the old trail, and up and down, have a nice view of Beijing city, take a picture, imagine the past prosperity, caravans led the horse, cattle and camel carrying all the goods passing here, day and night¡
After 3 hours easy walking, we will get to a magnificent temple called Dajuesi, a Buddhist shrine outside Beijing which can boast more than 1,000 years of history. There are a number of interesting sights in the immediate vicinity. They include Vulture Peak; the tomb of a Qing prince; Yang Family Garden and Lotus Temple and the Temple of Universal Grace.
We will have a superb vegetarian meal in the solemn temple and later have some nice tea in the amazing teahouse, which also offer tea ceremony with Taoist features.
